Description: This 82 ha property is situated in the Stellenbosch
area, lying between Stellenbosch and Paarl, with easy access to the N1
national road. It offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountain
ranges.
Farming activities include plums (8 ha, 11 years old), Satsuma soft
citrus (4 ha, 21 years old), Eureka lemons (5,5 ha, 12 years old), a 3
ha Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard (4 years old) and land of 8 ha where the
owners do vegetable production. Another 30 ha is considered to be
suitable for grazing where up to 65 cattle can be kept. An outsourced
activity is the production of roll-on lawn where the owners lease out a
certain portion of the land.
The remaining area allows for the huge catchment dam (180 000 m³), roads
(including a servitude road), numerous buildings as well as some waste
land. Irrigation is conducted by either a micro system or overhead
sprinklers.
Buildings consist of an impressive historic 4 bedroom manor house, built
in 1817, as well as 2 two bedroom manager’s cottages.
There are furthermore accommodation facilities which will offer, once
the building is completed, 6 guest rooms (for 24 people) with a
breakfast room.
The tourism aspect could be enhanced by this building, as there is
already an event venue where 150 people can be seated. This venue
building used to be the old wine cellar but has been restored
beautifully.
Because of the perfect location of the farm and the charming character
of the event venue, it has become a popular get together for weddings,
conferences and other functions.
The current owners make their own wine on a small scale in a separate
fully equipped cellar (handles 120 ton of grapes) on the farm.
Other buildings include 3 storage sheds as well as 7 labourer cottages.
There are 2 boreholes with a total capacity of 40 000l/h, while
electricity is supplied by Escom via 2 electricity boxes.
The farm is sold as a going concern with all relevant movable assets
included. Price: R22 million.
