Bishopscourt was originally laid out on the grounds of the farm “Boschheuwel” (Bushy Hill), originally owned by Jan van Riebeek, founder of the Cape. Among the handsome residences is that of the Anglican Archbishop, hence the modern name, Bishopscourt.
